Meet The Chief

Fire Chief David Deskis has led the Thompsonville Fire Department since September of 2018. Before becoming the Fire Chief at Thompsonville fire department Chief Deskis was the Interim Chief and Deputy Fire Chief at the Mashantucket Pequot Fire department. Chief Deskis retired from the State of Connecticut Military department where he was an airport crash rescue captain and chief of the fire prevention division.

Chief Deskis had a combined 21 years of military service in the Connecticut Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve where he retired as an Operations Chief in the 439^th Civil Engineering squadron fire protection flight. Chief Deskis has also been a member of the North Thompsonville Fire department, Somers Fire department, and Vernon Fire department.

Chief Deskis holds numerous licenses and certifications;

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Administration
• Associates degree in Fire Science
• Fire Marshal certified
• Fire Officer 4
• Fire Instructor Level III
• HazMat Technician
• Emergency Medical Technician
• Rescue Technician
• Dive certified
• State of Connecticut Hartford County Coordinator. 
  

   

Additionally, Chief Deskis has spent more than three decades as a dedicated member of the fire service community. Chief Deskis has been the recipient of numerous awards, and with a servant’s heart, unwavering dedication, and an insatiable desire to make his department the best it can be, Chief Deskis resolutely propels the Thompsonville Fire Department forward into the future.
