Yard Waste Disposal and Leaf Collection
Several opportunities are available for Enfield residents to dispose of yard waste and leaves. State of Connecticut law prohibits the disposal of grass clippings with household trash. For more information visit the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Grass Clipping website.
Brown Tippers can be used to dispose of organic materials and vegetative debris such as grass clippings, twigs, leaves, and tree limbs up to 2 inches in diameter. Please do not put household trash, plastic (including flower pots), demolition debris (including lumber), or tree limbs greater than 2 inches in diameter in to your brown tipper. Disposal of these items in a yard waste tipper may result in fines to the Town. Brown Tippers are available for purchase at the DPW Complex or ordered using the attached order form.
Gray Tippers (with a specially purchased tag) can be used to dispose of excess yard waste. Special tags, allowing residents to use their regular trash tippers to dispose of yard waste, may be purchased at the DPW Complex or by using the attached order form. Only residents with a brown tipper may purchase a tag, and there is a limit of one tag per household. Gray Tippers without tags will not be emptied during scheduled yard waste collections.
Yard Waste Tippers will be picked up every Friday from April 1 to December 1 (except for holiday weeks and weather permitting). Please have them curbside by 7 AM. Leaf Bags must be brought to the Transfer Station between December 1 and October 31. During the month of November, leaf bags may be brought to the Transfer Station but are also picked up curbside according to a specific schedule. Please watch the website for additional information.
